In close collaboration with the UCI School of Medicine, UCI Health has direct access to world-renowned scientists studying a full spectrum of disease including cancer, neurological disorders as well as research involving regenerative medicine.

Cancer

The UCI Health Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, the only National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer center in Orange County, has one of the largest early-phase clinical research programs in Southern California, giving patients access to promising experimental medicines in the very earliest studies.

Neurology

Ranked among the top neurology departments in the country by the National Institutes of Health, the UCI School of Medicine's Department of Neurology is committed to advancing clinical care, education and research to help patients with diverse neurological conditions. The Department of Neurology Clinical Trials Section has ongoing efforts in experimental therapeutics for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, epilepsy, Huntington’s disease, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, peripheral neuropathy and stroke.

Regenerative Medicine

At the Sue and Bill Gross Stem Cell Research Center, stem cells, and more broadly, regenerative medicine, are our business. Through this Center, UCI is positioned at the forefront of stem cell and regenerative medicine research. This dynamic center encompasses a diverse array of interdisciplinary investigators that span the UCI Schools of Medicine, Biological Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Engineering, Arts and Law.
